Capoeira is an African-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed in Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century by enslaved Africans seeking to win their liberation. It is known for its quick and complex maneuvers, predominantly using intelligence, guile, strength, speed, and leverage across a wide variety of movement. It's an art purposely designed to build meaningful community and relationships.
Like Capoeira, Mother Tongue strives to form community and inspire resistance.
